Market Rasen Under 13s moved back to top of their league with a disciplined win over third-placed Grantham Town.

Rasen beat the South Lincolnshire side 4-1 as they moved to the summit, although they have played more games than their closest rivals.

Having lost to Grantham earlier in the season the first half was very even with each keeper having little to do as the teams cancelled each other out.

However, after the break Rasen raised their game and within five minutes George Balmer was played in with some fine passing on the left to slot home.

This was quickly followed by a second from in-form winger George Fox before Rasen sat back to protect their lead.

With time running out for Grantham to get back into the game, Rasen broke twice with George Balmer adding his second before Will Bailey hit a delightful shot into the top corner.

Grantham did get a deserved consolation goal from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game.

Notable performances also came from captain Alex Rawden and defensive leader Ollie Adlam.
